Likes: I tend to like most of the anime I see, but this may just be because I have seen few anime to completion (only 20 completed series and/or OVAs, not counting movies). However, there are some styles of anime that I like more than others.

The most important aspects of an anime for me are plot and characters. I love when the characters are realistic, believable, and easy to relate to, and when the plot is interesting, makes sense, and is full of twists. Perfect examples are all the Studio Ghibli films and Bones series such as Fullmetal Alchemist or Scrapped Princess.

I also really like the so-called "dementia" genre, which is generally a mix of drama, thinker, and sometimes surreal. I love Paranoia Agent, Serial Experiments Lain, and Boogiepop Phantom, all series which are heavily psychological and require a lot of thinking to truly unerstand and enjoy. Connecting this to my love of good plot and characters, I particularly love when it's the plot and the personalities of the characters that get you thinking.

The quality of animation in a seris is not important to me. Music, however, is. I usually adore series that have good music, especially if all their other qualities are above adequate as well.

Dislikes: I don't think there are any types of anime that I passionately hate, but I don't really like fanservice. I don't really like when a series has bad music, either, but I usually don't take marks off unless the music is really, really awful or (inappropriately) nonexistent. I also dislike bad endings, or more precisely, endings that leave too many things unexplained or are not logical.
