Vacation!
Homunculus Gluttony - 6/24/2005
As much as I was hoping to finally catch up on all those anime series I have waiting for me to watch them this summer, there was a sudden change of plans and I'm off to the motherland for a month. After that, I'm going to the Northwestern American mountains for a month. So I'll be gone all summer long. Meaning no new reviews from me all summer... until late August when I come back and watch as much as I possibly can before school starts again.
So I'm off to a four-hour-delayed plane to Europe, with my anime and SNES Squaresoft game soundtracks, some J-pop, J-rock, and J-hop, and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time. Should be fun. I wish you all wonderful summers, especially my three fellow reviewers.
Until late August, then...
Addition by The Boney One
Well, if Gluttony is going away, it looks like it's finally time for me to come out of hiding! Just finished a few anime series that have taken me a few months to watch (**coughFullmetalalchemist!!coughcough**), so I'm just itching to write some new reviews!

Looking for a new host....
BoneyJellyfish - 5/08/2005
As many of you probably know, the website was almost completely down for the last two days (it was even more than just the database), and for me, that was absolutely the last straw. The whole reason I even made that mysql error page was because the website kept going down, but now it's gone on for way too long.
Today is the day Boney looks for a newer, better host!

Oh no, not this again...
BoneyJellyfish - 4/28/2005
Well, I spent spring break taking a nice, long vacation from just about everything, and now I'm back and better than ever!
But what do I come back to?
Well, word on the street is that a NEW group is picking up Love Love. Which one? Well, I can't bring that out to the public just yet, but I can say that they're currently subbing Dragonball episodes, so I wouldn't expect a whole lot from them. What does this mean to you, just another anime fan looking for Love Love? Well, first of all, stop looking for Love Love. It's awful.
Second, if you're stuck right in the middle of the series and just want to finish it like many, many others, then there's a faint glimmer of hope somewhere in the distance. I might just be a little too optimistic there, though. Don't get your hopes up!
Oh, and Ravlen said he was going to write more reviews, but he just ended up mysteriously disappearing again!

I'm back! (or am I?)
Ravlen - 4/07/2005
So, after a long hiatus, I finally left the confines of the bunker in my backyard and decided to join the land of the "not-mole-people" again. Sure, it was fun down there in the caverns, but there are only so many games of canasta one can take in a lifetime.
I noticed my old username and password work, so I took it upon myself to make a newspost. I didn't really need to, but looking at the site, it seems like THE thing to do. Make newsposts! Become Rich! Kill a man with your bare hands! *innocent whistle*
In any case, I have watched a lot of anime since I last made a review. Time to crack open the melon that is my head, and let the sweet sweet juices flow out into some anime reviews!

Layout Update!
BoneyJellyfish - 4/04/2005
Read a review and be amazed.
Update: April 7
I just finished with all of these exciting little updates:
1) Reinvented the reviewer profiles page.
2) Added a new section to (some) of the pages that sort by authors. Right now, the new section only appears for myself, Ravlen, and wnkryo (Homunculus Gluttony is lazy).
3) All of the error reviews now use the new format.
4) Adjusted the new format by removing that black bar that at one point separated the synopsis from the review. I'm going to miss that little black bar... it's been with me through the good times and the bad. I also changed how the images are displayed so that, for really, REALLY long reviews (i.e. the Dragonball Z: Budokai 3 review), the images don't get completely messed up.
Also, as you can see by that latest review, I'm not dead--I just write a hell of a lot.

Say hi to HG
Homunculus Gluttony - 3/31/2005
Hey there, everyone! I know this is shocking, but this actually isn't Boney Jellyfish. Yeah, I know - I'm surprised, too. But before becoming staff, I had no idea that anyone other than Boney could post news, either.
Anyway, hi! I'm Homunculus Gluttony and am now the fourth official reviewer of Jellyfish Anime Reviews. You may remember flaming my Avenger review (which I admit was rated too high, compared with what I've rated other series since) or commenting on my Wolf's Rain or FMA ones, but now I'm here to stay. In fact, I'm so damn official that my reviews are now up in BLUE on the taskbar to your right! How awesome is that? Pretty awesome, I know.
So what does this mean for you, dear review-seeker? Not much, really. It will definitely mean that this site will have updates a little more often and that you'll have a new, non-Boney style of reviewing to get accustomed to. It will also mean that you'll be seeing my pretty little 100 Stories icon more often. But other than that, not too much will be different. I'm not planning on overthrowing Boney by inciting any bloody revolutions, since he's quite a nice guy. I just want to write some reviews and have you read them, since doing so is a lot of fun.
...so be friendly!
P.S. A review is coming in the near future. Be ready.

Whatever happened to A-Plus?
BoneyJellyfish - 3/23/2005
Now everyone can see the awe-inspiring damage that Love Love is capable of. Observe the fate of A-Plus Fansubs...
www.ap-fansubs.comUpdate: Saturday, March 26In related news, Shinsen-Subs has officially dropped Love Love. This means that there are currently NO English fansub groups releasing Love Love.

Shi-Fa Drops Love Love
BoneyJellyfish - 3/19/2005
As you can see from Shining Fansubs' painfully dark
Release Page, Love Love has been dropped from their line-up. They've even removed all references to its board on their equally dark forum. It's the oldest trick in the book: Clem finally realized how horrible Love Love is, decided he couldn't sub it any more, left Shi-Fa, and then recreated the group three months later so nobody would suspect a thing. What he didn't expect was the Boney Factor—nothing gets by me, buddy. Nothing!
So what does this mean for you? Well, this means that the "real-subbing" of Love Love is completely discontinued. Anime-Destiny doesn't even have a translator (last I heard, their translations for the first episode of Love Love were done by the same person that did Shi-Fa's) and Shinsen-Subs seem to have just done their version to torture people wanting to watch the series.
There is an important lesson to be seen here, everyone: Love Love kills fansub groups. Shi-Fa realized this soon enough and eliminated almost all mention of it from their website. This series is cursed, and thus far only two groups have completed it: me and some Brazilian fansub group. I think everyone looking for a real sub at this point should just give up and hope the series gets licensed.
Oh, who am I kidding? Anyone begging for a real sub now will just whine when the series gets licensed—that's a fact. You heard it from me first, everyone.
By the way, Shi-Fa's color scheme stinks.

Minor updates GALORE!
BoneyJellyfish - 3/11/2005
Do you see that? GALORE! There's tons of stuff to talk about in this update, so let's get started!
1) The Submit Game feature is all done! Jubilation!
2) You can now read the pages and pages of news post archives whenever you want. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find a set of links that leader you deeper and deeper into the site.
3) If you don't want to scroll, there is now a funny-looking arrow at the bottom of the bar on the right that goes straight to the bottom of every single page on the site.
4) Clicking on the image of an author in a review now brings you to that author's profile page.
5) All profile pages now have links to all of the reviews the author has written.
6) Sorting reviews by genre now displays "Other Genres" at the bottom of the page, which brings you to a list of genres you can sort by.
And... actually, that's about all that's new. Soon to come: something to do with the comments! Well, that's all for today. Hasta la vista, my silly little readers!
(P.S. I have reviews written and they WILL be put on the site very soon!)
