Kyuusaku, his son Ryuunosuke, and an incomplete robot are sneaking away from the scientist’s psychotic wife Akiko. Along the way, the son gets out to satisfy an urge of nature, and comes back with a cat that found him. At this point, gunfire erupts around them, and they try to get away. They succeed, but the cat had been killed by a stray gunfire shot. Kyuusaku, seeing Ryuunosuke grieving for the cat, inserts the cat's brain into the robot to complete it. Now, the two are living with a robot that has the looks of a supermodel and the brain of a cat. Can Nuku Nuku protect Ryuunosuke from Akiko?

When I first saw this a few years ago I was ecstatic. Two great voice actors, Megumi Hayashibara and Aya Hisakawa supplied voices for a few characters. Their usual great voice acting held up in this and it certainly helped this anime earn a good rating.

Unfortunately, despite their great voice-acting the script wasn't too solid. There is no plot to speak of in Nuku Nuku and the laughs didn't come too often. Fortunately, there were quite a few funny parts to even it out. The characters in Nuku Nuku are very well developed and unique. The two robots in the show, Nuku Nuku and Eimi, are absolutely hilarious!

I was a little disappointed by the ending, though. I was sad to find out that none of the family problems are ever actually settled and they aren't actually reunited. If you want a good diversion for a couple of hours, then Nuku Nuku is definitely the way to go. Solid comedy and great voice acting make this an anime that you should try to watch sometime.

Likes - Funny at times; Interesting characters
Dislikes - No closure; Funny moments are infrequent
