Several years ago, the scientist Zorndyke created a race of sentient beings underneath the Antarctic glaciers. In order to correct the evils of humanity, Zorndyke ordered these giant beings, called Mucosas, to flood the coasts all over the world. A few years later, the Hayami joins the army in order to fight the new beasts Zorndyke has created to live in the water. However, when he finds and rescues one of them dying on his beach, his whole world is suddenly flipped upside-down.

Alright, there are a lot of things I liked and disliked about Blue Sub 6, though obviously the likes overpower the dislikes. First of all: the animation and music are superb. The CG occasionally gets a little annoying because this was developed back in '98 when CG had not yet been polished to the point it's at today. The plot also has a lot going for it, except there are a lot of loose ends left and the ending is pretty abrupt. It's a very linear plot, with no real thinking needed at all. There is plenty of room to develop a relationship between Hayami and Mutio, as well as Hayami and Kino, though regrettably nothing is really done. There is also a lot of backstory that could have been presented here that was absent. Tthe action scenes are also absolutely beautiful. Well designed underwater battles are presented well and the character and creature designs are wonderful.

If this was a 13 episode series, there is so much more that could have been done with this plot, and the concept of this series is just so great that I just salivate thinking of how great this could have been.

Likes - Mutio, Great character designs and voices, good plot potential, fantastic concept, animation and music are superb, topless sea women abound
Dislikes - No relationships resolved, not much character development, plot leaves a lot to be desired.
