Genre(s):  Action, Drama, Romance
Released:  2000
Episodes:  Movie

It's been six months since Eriol moved back to England, and Sakura is now in sixth grade. It's time once again for the yearly play in the school festival and Sakura has finally landed the part she's wanted for years: she's going to be playing the princess. Meanwhile, Clow Reed's house has been demolished and an amusement park has replaced it along with the King Penguin park. Strange things begin to occur soon after, though. Sakura seems to be mysteriously losing cards each day and areas of the city are starting to disappear...

A conclusion to the series Cardcaptor Sakura, this movie starts off almost immediately after the series ends. Shaoran is back in Hong Kong, Eriol is back in England, and Sakura is just entering sixth grade. Long time viewers of Cardcaptor Sakura will be the only people that will understand what's going on in this movie. Viewers will also be pleased to see that just about every character from the series makes an appearance in this movie. From Meiling to Tomoyo's mom, they're all there.

The story in the movie is very well done, and the pacing is just perfect. It flows very well right from the get go and it doesn't stop moving until the very last millisecond. The quality of the animation and music is absolutely superb, and the animation in particular exceeded my expectations of movie-quality animation. The music was a good mixture of vocal and non-vocal tracks that were all played at just the right moments.

Not everything is great in the land of Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card. The same problems that were slightly annoying throughout the series are just aggrivating in this movie. The old annoying formula of "I need to tell you something really important but I keep getting interrupted at the worst time possible" is back, and it means trouble in this movie. That's all the entire story is about, and it's almost the same story that we've been exposed to for the entirety of Cardcaptor Sakura.

Even with that, though, I still found the story to be very enjoyable. With the focus completely on Shaoran and Sakura during the movie, it ended just the way it should have ended. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't some sort of an epilogue following the movie because it would have been really nice to see how everything turned out. The way the movie ends is really very similar to the way Whisper of the Heart ended. The two hug and make up then BAM! It's over.

Likes - Good story; same great Cardcaptor formula
Dislikes - Annoying plot device; same old Cardcaptor formula
