I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's impossible to create a full romance story in less than thirty minutes, and
First Kiss Story is no exception to that rule. However, while watching it you can certainly tell that the creators really tried to get in a romance story but there was just no time for it.
First Kiss Story is loosely based on a Playstation and computer game by the same name. Like
Mizuiro,
Kanon,
Pia Carrot 2 DX, and numerous other romance anime based on games,
First Kiss Story is based on a dating simulator. Because of that, you can expect
First Kiss Story to feature many, many women. Unfortunately, being a single episode that's based on a game is where
First Kiss Story really fails: unless you've played the game you don't know who any of the characters are. Many of them just pop up out of nowhere and and then leave immediately, and not a single character other than Shougo is given any development whatsoever. Even the two main characters don't develop in the slightest.
The animation in
First Kiss Story is surprisingly good for a show made in 2000, and it strangely reminds me of
Sister Princess and
Pia Carrot 2 DX. I could tell not only because the same company made both
First Kiss Story and Pia Carrot 2 DX, but because Dejiko makes an appearance near the end of the show. However, while the animation might shine, it's usually the music that brings much emotion and feeling to an anime. That's not the case in
First Kiss Story, and all the music manages to do is bore and annoy me to no end.
Likes - Dejiko makes an appearance!
Dislikes - Rushed story; awful music
