There are a lot of words that can describe Golden Boy. Funny, humorous, toilet fetish, grossout humor, love story, and dominatrix. I mean er... nevermind.

The main character of Golden Boy seems to have a lot of problems and always manages to get caught up in the worst possible situations. Six completely separate situations, in fact. Each episode of Golden Boy is completely standalone and you can watch them in any order you want. You might want to save the sixth episode for last though, since it contains characters from the other episodes.

I'll do a brief review of each episode now:

First Episode - Kentaro gets a job in a programming company after nearly being run over by a woman with breasts that would make jell-o feel ashamed. Here we see one of the more disgusting areas of the show: toilet fetishes. Yes, in almost every episode from here on out we get to see Kentaro drinking toilet water and rubbing his face around the toilet bowl, only to be caught in the act by the female lead for the episode, who he is always fantasizing about as being a dominatrix. I think I should mention that the female lead in this episode has a REALLY cool car.

Second Episode - Kentaro is working on the campaign for a man that is running for mayor. Kentaro has been hired to clean, you guessed it, the bathroom belonging to his daughter. We get to see not only amazing toilet fetishes again, but this time the daughter tries to seduce Kentaro by constantly dressing and undressing in front of him... and us! Joy of joys.

Third Episode - My favorite episode. Contains no fan service, toilet fetishes, or dominatrixes. Contained in this episode is a straight love story about Kentaro and the daughter of the owner of the noodle shop he works for. Very sweet episode.

Fourth Episode - Back to toilet fetishes and dominatrixes! This time Kentaro is working as a swimming instructor after he meets the very attractive head instructor. Kentaro, however, is not pleased with the way children are being treated and taught and is determined to show the head instructor that his methods will achieve better results. Also, he made a bet with the head instructor that if he could beat her in a swimming race he'd get laid. That sums up that whole plot right there, don't it?

Fifth Episode - On his way to get a job at an inn, Kentaro comes across a woman who is uh... "getting it on" with a motorcycle. Wait a minute... that can't be right. Uh... anyway, he manages to land a job at the inn but is come across by the daughter of the owner while he is exploring the enigma that is the toilet. He is soon fired from the job, but his quest to meet with the strange motorcyclist has just begun.

Sixth Episode - Kentaro works at an anime company and they're having a really tough time finishing their movie. After rubbing his boss's boobies the wrong way, the deadline for the movie is moved up a bit further. Kentaro is in a pinch, and he may have to ask for help from some of his old friends (read: female leads) in order to save the company.

Note: At the end of each episode, Kentaro is fired.

Likes - Funny; third episode
Dislikes - Uh... toilet fetishes and S&M fantasies? No thanks!

I found goldenboy to be far more hilarious than you did apparently. Maybe its just that I didn't really mind the toilet fetish as much as you did, i just tried to ignore that part of the series. Overall though, its one of those series that combined a ton of perverted humor with a very nice mix of those "lighthearted moments".

Which is actually a very good mix.

If you liked this series at all, I highly suggest you check out GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) Its very similar, but expands upon it in every way... And its actually long enough to make a difference.

if you like echi, this is for you!!!

All I can say is that this series had the best dub that I have ever heard. In my opinion, it was better than the sub. The English voice actor really puts emotion into Kentaro's voice. If you don't believe me, give one of the episodes a shot in English... you will not be dissapointed.

I was disapointed witht the dubbing... Cowboy Bebop english dubbing was better suited...

Did I detect a hint of sarcasm in that last post?

Now, I watched both the dub and the sub, and I thought that the dub was COMPLETELY overacted on the part of Kintaro, while the sub was a little... unemotional.
