Kiki's Delivery Service is pretty much the LAST thing a person would think he/she would enjoy. There's no action, little plot, and it's about a little girl riding around on a broom with her pet cat doing errands. Doesn't sound like the basis for a good anime, does it? However, Miyazaki shoots and he SCORES!

Yes, this anime is good despite the crummy concept. The animation is also top-notch as the characters move about with fluidity and the world is immensely detailed, as one would expect from a Miyazaki film. The only problem with the animation that I could find was that the character designs are a little too jagged.

The other complaint I have with Kiki's is that the ending is just way too abrupt. It's not enough to detract from my enjoyment of the movie but I would have liked to see it a little longer.

Likes - An innocent film with a wonderful charm to it; great for both adults and children alike; original concept
Dislikes - The ending; character designs are too jagged

Hmm, I never really noticed the flaws in the character designs, but that's a good thing. Miyazaki is incredible, whatever type of anime he tries his hand at. Great review, Boney!

I also didn't like how quickly it ended. I blinked and muttered to myself, "...is that it?" But, I suppose we really didn't need to see any more. Aside from the abrupt yet fitting ending, I really liked this anime.
