Kyousuke is an ESPer, a man with paranormal powers. Nobody else outside of the family knows that though, it's just his family's secret. However, he has to move from town to town repeatedly because his sisters always use their powers in front of the public, revealing their secret to the world. That brings him to his newest location, and this is one place he must not move from. On his first day in the town, he met a girl named Madoka and they hit it off. Too bad for Kyousuke there's another girl in his new school, Madoka's childhood friend Hikaru, that likes him after she got a peek of him using his power. Can Kyousuke manage two girls at once as well as protect his family's secret?

To date, no anime has done a love triangle as well as Kimagure Orange Road has and once you see it, you'll believe. The great story, combined with comedy, great animation, and somewhat good 80s music create a great experience that anyone could enjoy. Unfortunately, Kimagure Orange Road hasn't really aged too well over the years. Unlike a fine wine, the 80s references in Kimagure Orange Road only worsen with age. Of course, if you're from the 80s there's certainly a good amount of nostalgia to be had in Kimagure Orange Road.

I found the music and animation to be very good in KOR, though the music was very 80s-sounding. I really liked the first introduction song, Take Me to Summer Side, although the intro movie probably could have given me a seizure if I had watched it repeatedly :D There are a lot of references to back then as well such as Top Gun, the Terminator, and a few others. Kimagure Orange Road also features the longest running gag in anime history. "Ushiko-san, wherefore art thou Ushiko-san?". It's nothing new in each episode, but it's just so funny seeing how many situations the two lovers can get in.

One thing I didn't really like about KOR though is the fact that each episode is self-contained save the last couple of episodes. Some of them just end off and nobody remembers what happened in the next episode. For instance, in one episode Kyousuke goes back in time to fix a mistake he made. After he fixes the mistake (by disposing of himself from the past) he goes to a party with Madoka and Hikaru. However, his past self then barges through the door to the party and the episode just ends. Next episode: no mention whatsoever. The episode in question did set up for the ending though, which was really good I might add. It was quite possibly one of the best endings I've seen in an anime.

Unfortunately, the way KOR ends sort of requires you to watch the movie sequel, Kimagure Orange Road: Ano Hi ni Kaeritai. The majority of the relationships aren't actually resolved and thankfully that's just what the movie does.

Likes - Excellent love story; fantastic ending
Dislikes - Self-contained, occasionally repetitive, episodes
