Kyousuke is an ESPer, a man with paranormal powers. Nobody else outside of the family knows that though, it's just his family's secret. However, he has to move from town to town repeatedly because his sisters always use their powers in front of the public, revealing their secret to the world. That brings him to his newest location, and this is one place he must not move from. On his first day in the town, he met a girl named Madoka and they hit it off. Too bad for Kyousuke there's another girl in his new school, Madoka's childhood friend Hikaru, that likes him after she got a peek of him using his power. Can Kyousuke manage two girls at once as well as protect his family's secret?

A continuation of the TV series, the Kimagure Orange Road OVA series appears to begin almost directly after the main TV series finishes and it ends right before the first movie, Kimagure Orange Road: Ano Hi ni Kaeritai. There was no better time to release this OVA because it allows them to introduce more characters as well as use old ones that were introduced near the end of the series (such as Kyosuke's grandfather) without having any effect on the story.

The visuals in this OVA are a vast improvement over those of the TV series. Characters are drawn very well and have a much cleaner look than before. The environments are also quite a bit more colorful, and everything just has a better "feel" to it. Also, all of the old voice actors return and give a stellar performance, as usual.

All of the comedy and romance elements from the TV series are present here, and watching this series is almost identical to watching the television series. There are two new characters in the OVA, Akane and Mitsuru, who add a little bit extra to the show. I wasn't really sold on either of them, though. Their personalities were a little farfetched and some of the situations weren't really too believable. I was a little disappointed that Kazuya didn't show up in the series either. He was one of my favorite characters in the show.

Unfortunately, because of the fact that it takes place in the short time between the end of the series and the movie, there isn't really much room for relationship development. It makes a bit of sense, though, because if there WAS any development in between the love triangle, it would stick a wrench in the plot of the movie (which is spectacular, by the way). Nevertheless, each episode was very enjoyable. The comedy elements were hilarious as usual, and the romance elements had me wanting more and more. Some of the episodes didn't seem right, or maybe I'm just thinking of one episode in particular where Madoka "sings". They could have at least TRIED to get a voice that sounded like hers. Also, there is a lot more fan service in the OVAs than there was in the television show, but it's nothing major.

Likes - Same formula as the TV series; improved visuals
Dislikes - No advancement in the story
