Eeeeeeeeew. I'm still shuddering from the scene involving the ninjas being wiped out. It was, perhaps, the second most gruesome scene I've ever watched (the first being the entire
Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen OVA series). One thing I didn't really like is that every woman is eventually naked. And the unnecessary sex scene.
Okaaay. Let's get back on track now. As I've said before, the blood and gore in
Ninja Scroll is sky high. The plot consists of a poorly-done romance and a take-over-the-world evil guy. Pretty cliché, but this is an action anime, so it all boils down to the fight scenes. The fight scenes are alright. They're very well animated, but are way too short. Try fitting ten separate fight scenes into an hour and a half and you'll see what I mean. The ending battle between Jubei and what's-his-face is also ended abruptly. We're supposed to feel sad, but there's just not really any development at all in anything. Basically,
Ninja Scroll boils down to an action anime with only moderately well done, short action sequences.
Likes - Nice swordfights!; interesting characters and character designs!
Dislikes - Characters are a little too unrealistic; shallow; short fight scenes
