The first of all of the
Slayers movies,
Slayers Perect is one of the best. The animation is much better than the three series' and the music is almost as good. However,
The Slayers is known far and wide for two things: a solid story and laughs in every episode. Well, I guess one out of two isn't too bad.
Of all of the
Slayers movies and OVAs,
Perfect is easily the one with the best story. It takes itself very seriously and there's a lot of depth to it. The character development is also good, with not only Lina and Naga getting some background but also the more minor characters like Raudy getting a lot of development. The one character that didn't get any development, though, is the monster Joylock. He was a rather interesting villain, but in the end served no purpose other than dying for the sake of continuing the movie.
Unfortunately, one of the biggest problems with
Slayers Perfect is that it takes itself seriously. While the story may be good, it's just not funny at all, and the story isn't good enough to be anything except slightly above average compared to other animes. One thing that I really liked about this movie though is that it provided a lot background for Gourry, even though he doesn't even appear in the movie and doesn't even appear in front of Lina for another two years.
Likes - Good plot and character development; animation
Dislikes - Incredibly stupid and undeveloped bad guy; not very funny
