For as long as Masuo has lived, he has never had a girlfriend or even touched another girl. According to a fortune teller he passes by, he is destined to live his entire life by himself. Let's go to Hinata Inn! Ooops, wrong anime. When I was watching through this series I could have sworn I was watching the last three episodes of Love Hina. Nevermind that Masuo is almost a picture perfect match of Keitaro, or that Nagisa shares an uncanny resemblance to Narusegawa, but we also have the same three situations as the last three episodes of Love Hina. They go to the beach, they celebrate Christmas Eve together after a big misunderstanding, and they even have a co-worker attracted to Masuo. Why? So they can fall and be in a suggestive position just in time for Nagisa to walk in the room.

Of course, it may seem like the Yume De Aetara OVA is shamelessly ripping off Love Hina, but that really isn't the case. Created two years before Love Hina premiered, the chances of that are pretty slim. Since the two stories are so remarkably similar, down to almost each situation, it seems like Love Hina almost rips off Yume De Aetara. They're so similar, I'd even go so far as to name a new genre after them: Misunderstanding-Based Romance. The plot of each episode pretty much revolves around a misunderstanding of some sort.

However, unlike Love Hina and many other romance stories, there really isn't anything captivating about Yume De Aetara OVA. The characters are undeveloped and emotionless and there really isn't much comedy to speak of. The romance story didn't really pull me in like many others do and I was somewhat disappointed that the ending didn't really get much emotion out of me. That's the problem with short romance OVA series: there just isn't enough time to develop the relationships. It isn't helped much when the two main characters, Nagisa and Masuo spend almost no time together throughout the series.

Likes - A nice romance story; good music
Dislikes - Animation is a little bleh; Not very captivating
